14 Karat Gold Sparkle-Cut Heart Pendant

The heart has been shorthand for affection since medieval Europe, which makes it the least original thing you can put on a chain — and also the reason it never stops being given. Some symbols work precisely because everyone already knows them.

This one is 9mm in 14 karat yellow gold, with a beaded border framing the shape. The face is sparkle-cut, a finish the trade also calls diamond-cut: fine facets are carved into the surface of the metal itself, so the gold throws light back in small bright points instead of reading as one flat sheet.

To be clear about the finish: "sparkle-cut" and "diamond-cut" describe how the gold is finished. There are no diamonds or other stones in this pendant — the sparkle comes entirely from the cut of the metal.
